In life, you have a choice. You can choose to focus on the BAD or… on the GOOD. I know that sometimes things are so bad that you can’t help but be consumed by its terror. Other times it’s the opposite. You’re SO happy that you forget that anything is even wrong…
That’s how I felt, when Karissa Bodnar, CEO of Thrive Causemetics, came to visit me in Montreal all the way from Seattle for 1 day! Just 1 day!
Karissa and I have been Social Media friends for 2 years. She messaged me upon launching Thrive Causemetics luxury high-performance cosmetics! For every product purchased, one is donated to empower a woman thriving through cancer.
When I was undergoing radiation 3 years ago, she reached out offering to send me fake and safe to use lashes! Right away, I felt her vibrant and authentic energy through my screen and accepted with pleasure. We’ve been supporting each other ever since!
Karissa started Thrive Causemetics after she lost her one of her best friends, Kristy to cancer at only 24 years old (the same age I was diagnosed with breast cancer… maybe that’s why we connected so quickly). Karissa was inspired by Kristy to not take life for granted and felt the need to make a difference in this world. And that’s exactly what she and the Thrive team is doing!
Thrive’s mission is to empower women by proving that beauty goes beyond skin deep. Their formulas are vegan without the use of parabens, sulfates or toxins! Alleluia! So hard to find!
I had the HONOUR to have their Chocolate Brown with Gold Shimmer Infinity Waterproof Eyeliner named after me!!!
That’s right… there is a NALIE eyeliner!!! How cool is that? I feel so so special…
The reasons behind why Karissa decided to name the eyeliner after me in the video above brings me to tears! (Go watch it!)
Every product is named after an influential, inspiring and empowering woman. I personally know some of these warrior women named after the Glossy Lip Marks and Triple Threat Color Sticks. I am humbled to be a part of them.
As cool as it was to receive the gifted eyeliners and makeup… finally hanging out with Karissa for a day was the biggest blessing.
For a whole day I forgot I was sick! As all my closest friends who live abroad know, if you come visit me in Montreal… I HAVE TO GIVE YOU A TOUR OF THE CITY! I was thrilled to have the strength to still do that for her that Sunday!
We gave her an express tour of Montreal! From historical churches, french cafes, to tasting poutines and maple syrup! My girl, Marie and I showed Karissa what our beautiful city is all about!
It’s as if we’d known each other for years! Karissa has such a BIG HEART!
It’s people like her that help me see this silver lining – if it weren’t for cancer, I would have never met Karissa Bodnar.
These are the moments I am grateful for!
These are my signs that remind me… every thing is going to be OK!
