My Speech at the Ky Cares Touched Fundraiser

Every year, Montreal Alouettes Player Kyries Hebert hosts the Ky Care’s Touched fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness. Invited are CFL players, other athletes and their friends and family! Special guests included Scott Flory, John Bowman, Anwar Stewart and the NHL legend Serge Savard! I was honoured when my friend Anneth, Ky’s girlfriend, asked me to be one of the guest speakers!
The first thing I thought to myself was… Oh boy… I have to speak to a bunch of Alouettes football players about my boobies? This should be interesting…
But again, it’s still breast cancer awareness month and I’m on a mission! So I accepted with pleasure and wrote a 5-minute speech!
I begun with “Hi, my name is Nalie and this July, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer”
You could have heard a pin drop to the floor at the usually loud Cage aux Sports venue…
In the end, I got such a great response from the crowd. Many approached me to send their love, support and overall encouragement. A lot had already read my blog and congratulated me on its success. I can’t ever seem to get enough of that at times like this. But the best fulfilment was to know that again, I was able to share awareness.
Another mission complete!
Thank you to Kyries Hebert for hosting such a successful and meaningful fundraiser. Every year, not only are you helping to save lives, but the simple thought that you care makes all the difference! Congratulations, I am truly “Touched”.
