My Trip to Charleston, SC – Hotel Keys of Hope Cancer Survivors Reunion

July 2, 2017

To think I was bedridden just a couple of months ago and now I’m traveling all over the world when I didn’t think I could…  That alone = HOPE!

What an honour to be selected to cover and participate in the 3rd Annual Hotel Keys of Hope Cancer Survivors Reunion brought to you by Extended Stay America and the American Cancer Society in CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA!

I was the two for one package! As a blogger, I got to learn about the program and cover the event and as survivor, I got to enjoy celebrating LIFE, SURVIVORSHIP AND HOPE amongst other fellow cancer THRIVERS!

Watch the video above to get a taste of that Southern Hospitality! From delicious meals at Water’s Edge restaurant, Poogan’s Smokehouse and High Cotton, boat rides on the Carolina Belle to inspiring Keynotes from Chris Draft – former NFL linebacker and Scott Hamilton, Olympic Gold Medalist and 3x Cancer Survivor.

The highlight of my trip was definitely connecting with other cancer survivors and learning about how they benefited from the “Hotel Keys of Hope” program!

Here’s a little bit about the program:

To date, Extended Stay America has donated over 85,000 hotel stays in locations throughout the US, and helped more than 12,000 patients and their families overcome the financial stress of travelling for treatment.

The Hotel Keys of Hope program has pledged a total of 150,000 free or deeply discounted rooms so that an estimated 15,000 cancer patients and their caregivers can save over $5 million in lodging cost and get access to potentially lifesaving cancer treatment.

Over $5 million in lodging cost savings to an estimated 15,000 cancer patients while getting potentially lifesaving treatment from cancer.

Thank you ESA, ACS and the Zimmerman Agency not only for this beautiful experience, but mostly… for giving me and my boyfriend a little break!
